Metro, the German retail group, has launched an RFID project with Savi Networks under the title Advanced Logistics Asia.
The aim is to monitor the exact location and increase security of goods shipped from Asia to Europe, in real-time.
The project will be managed by Metro’s buying group in Hong Kong. It will use SaviTrak, a web-based service to track the RFID tags on shipments to Rotterdam and onto distribution centres in Germany.
