The next stage of development at Burnley Bridge has been allocated as proposed employment land in Burnley Council’s local plan.
Commercial property developer and investor Eshton’s Burney Bridge South scheme is estimated to provide 1,300 jobs for the town.
The scheme is to provide an additional mix of warehousing and industrial accommodation to the existing site, with tailored units to meet occupier needs. The units will sit adjacent to the A679 Accrington Road and are to total 600,000 sq ft.
Burnley Bridge is part of the three-phase development off the M65 carriageway which has brought over £50million in investment to Burnley and the surrounding area.
“It is good news for Burnley that Eshton plan to take this site forward,” said Burnley Council leader, Mark Townsend. ‘’We are waiting to hear from the planning inspector on final approvals and we hope to adopt the Local Plan over the summer.”
