DHL Exel Supply Chain has won a 10-year multi-million-pound contract with crude oil producer Saudi Aramco.
Mohammed Otaibi, material logistics manager at Saudi Aramco, said: “DHL Exel Supply Chain in Saudi Arabia will replace the current fragmented logistics arrangements with an integrated supply chain service.”
The operator will develop the oil company’s national logistics infrastructure including provision, management and operation of four material distribution centres or cross-docks at Dammam, Riyadh, Jiddah and Yanbu.
The contract also involves operating a fleet of vehicles as well as 14 material service centres. More than 400 staff are involved. The contract is expected to be fully operational by July.
In addition, DHL Exel will set up a system enabling the customers of Saudi Aramco to track the transport of its orders in real time on the internet.
