Kuehne & Nagel has opened a new logistics centre in Japan just two miles from Narita Airport.
The airport was a key factor in Kuehne & Nagel’s choice of location. In addition to contract logistics, a section of the warehouse is dedicated to airfreight.
The facility features 10,000 sq m of warehousing and handling space and includes modern office premises. Key customer at the site is Japan Airlines.
Kuehne & Nagel operates the facility as a global logistics hub for all the national carrier’s in-flight catering requirements, serving the airline’s catering companies and service stations worldwide as well as checking and sorting returned goods.
Vice president for contract logistics Dirk Reich said: “This new logistics centre underlines our strategy of expanding contract logistics activities globally, with the aim of offering integrated logistics services in all countries.
“This year will see us opening two further locations, laying the foundation to become one of the country’s leading logistics providers,” he said.
