Eddie Stobart is taking delivery of 500 Scanias, which are due to start arriving in March 2007.
The order includes R420 tractor units and rigids as well as two fire appliances destined to operate at Carlisle Airport.
“In addition to low whole-life costs, fuel economy and operating efficiency, Scania EGR was a factor strongly in our favour as Eddie Stobart wishes to avoid the additional burden of SCR and AdBlue,” said Scania managing director Dan Hoij.
