John Lewis has cut the number of deliveries needed to its stores in Sheffield and Nottingham through the use of multi-deck trailers.
Both stores use underground delivery areas and were previously served by 7.5 tonne demountable trucks.
Modification of the loading docks has enabled it to use the larger multi-deck trailers.
It has installed a Transdek mobile dock leveller at Sheffield along with a free-standing ramp, while, at Nottingham a Transdek mobile dock lift has been fitted enabling 13.6m trailers to be used.
