Ryder has won a new just in time contract with BMW, supporting the manufacture of the second generation Mini.
It has opened a new depot near Abingdon and will collect components from 15 sites and deliver them in sequence deliveries to the BMW Group plant in Oxford ready for assembly.
It is using 28 specially designed trailers for rapid unloading of key components. Fifty drivers plus an eight-strong management team have been put in place to operate the contract.
