The Port of Tyne has welcomed the inaugural visit of the Maddalena D’Amato, the first Panamax vessel to visit the port.
The 225m long and 32.6m wide ship arrived at Riverside Quay on Monday with its cargo of coal destined for Drax Power.
The port recently completed a £18m investment to extend its Riverside Quay by 60m to 574m and depth from 10.5m to 12.1m enabling it to handle larger vessels.
