Intermec has launched the IF30, a fixed RFID reader which uses a dense reader mode (DRM) to counteract problems faced in a “noisy” RF environment.
DRM allows the reader to operate in close proximity to others, for instance on multiple dock doors, without interfering with each other.
“Reading and writing RFID tags one at a time is easy, but in a high-speed environment with multiple readers creating a “noisy RF” environment, it’s very challenging,” a spokesman said.
The IF30 is designed for high-speed operations, reading tags at conveyor speeds of up to 1,600 feet a minute and from distances up to 15 feet. Its increased receive sensitivity allows it to read weaker and unreadable tags, reducing misreads which slow throughput.
