The British International Freight Association (BIFA) and HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) are to hold a joint conference called Security Without Barriers to Trade.
The event will be held at the Institute of Directors on 21st June 2007 and will be the launch pad of the UK’s official response to the European Commission initiative arising from the amendment to the Community Customs Code last autumn.
BIFA says that the implications of 9/11 and subsequent terrorist attacks have highlighted the need to address security measures while maintaining the current benefits of free trade.
