The Port of Tyne Authority’s has been developing a one-stop-shop by incorporating its wholly-owned subsidiaries, Port of Tyne Distribution and Tyne Logistics Company, into Port of Tyne Logistics Services.
“OneStopShop” provides a variety of options in the handling, storage and distribution of goods designed to meet demands without compromising quality. An example of this strategy is Tommee Tippee, the baby accessories company, based near Newcastle upon Tyne, which has just taken delivery of two customised trailers for transporting its products to some of the leading high street names. The trailers were unveiled by Port of Tyne Logistics Services, which for the past five years has been landing, handling and distributing the company’s products through its headquarters at South Shields.
The Port of Tyne has a seven hectare customs approved container handling terminal with regular feeder transhipment services connecting the Tyne to Felixstowe and Rotterdam as well as globally. Ten per cent of import customers are routed through the port’s warehouses.
