Ian Veitch, chief executive of NYK Logistics in the UK, has become the first European in the NYK group’s 122 year history to take a place on its main group board. Veitch has been appointed to the committee of directors of NYK Line in Tokyo reflecting the shift of NYK from a traditional Japanese shipping company into an integrated global logistics group.
“While NYK’s history and heritage have immense value, as an organisation with a global customer base, NYK’s new board is that of a multi-national company which happens to be based in Japan, rather than that of a specifically Japanese company,” he said. NYK Logistics has a worldwide network of more than 110 consolidation and distribution centres.
