Hauliers adopting a wait and see approach to installing digital tachographs could be costing the industry up to £2.5 million a year in wasted administration, according to research from fuel management company Keyfuels.
Keyfuels suggests that, for the 60,000 hauliers operating fleets with both new and old vehicles, the need to collate driver’s hours from both analogue and digital tachographs could be wasting one day a week in administration.
Simon Clifford of Keyfuels, said: “The reality for hauliers is that they are increasingly burdened with running a fleet, facing volatile fuel prices, foreign competition and a barrage of legislation, including the introduction of digital tachographs. It’s not surprising that many hauliers are struggling to recognise the potential benefits.”
