More than 7,500 distribution vehicles from 130 operators took part in a survey into the transport of food and drink last month. The Key Performance Indicators Survey is being run on behalf of the Department for Transport by Scala logistics consultants.
The aim is to examine how efficiently trucks and vans are being operated and the effect of congestion and loading or unloading delays. It will also show how far goods are moved, how much fuel is used, and how much carbon dioxide is released.
