Jungheinrich launches its latest electric order picker / stacker Kombi in the Spring. The EKX range is controlled by an intelligent control system and design innovations include RFID floor control, “residual capacity plus” which increases overall capacity of the range, as well as improvements in performance, efficiency and safety.
The EKX 513-515 has a capacity of up to 1,500 kg and reaches lift heights over 14 m. It will be presented to the public for the first time at the LogiMAT in Stuttgart.
It is built using Jungheinrich’s modular system allowing many configuration options.
The RFID floor control system linked to the “floor topology” adjusts speed profiles to floor conditions in the narrow aisle warehouse. The truck is controlled by special transponders which can provide permanent distance measuring. Information on the topology of the floor can be stored in the memory of the truck and can be used to adjust the speed and control parameters. This information can be transferred between the master truck to others operating in the same narrow aisles via a USB stick.
RFID floor control also ensures more flexibility in its switching and safety functions. These include aisle end braking and stopping, lift and travel limits as well as speed reduction in poor quality floor areas or during the transport of sensitive goods.
The stacker can reach speeds up to 12 km/h. Truck performance can also be increased in other ways. For example, the truck can be designed to incorporate the “residual capacity plus” module which uses two active supports which are extended automatically during stacking and retrieval. The customer can also select increased lift performance of up to 0.52 m/s from the various modules.
The EKX uses third generation 80 Volt 3-phase AC technology, which Jungheinrich says uses less energy than their predecessors. “Additional energy” is reclaimed through regenerative braking and lowering during the operation of the Kombi allowing significantly longer operating times with only one battery charge. The stacker may achieve up to two shifts in normal operation. In addition the active energy and battery management system looks ahead and optimises energy flows for the various operations so that energy requirement peaks are avoided.
The cab has been enlarged in the EKX 513-515 and a cushioned, adjustable and foldable seat can be fitted with a heater and lumbar support.
