Handleman UK has taken Big Sam, Arlington and Barwood’s 274,700 sq ft cross-docked distribution centre at Wingates Industrial Estate in Bolton on a 10-year lease at an annual rent of £1.17 million a year (£4.25 per sq ft).
The distribution company will be supplying CDs and DVDs to Tesco and is expected to create 1,200 in the next two years. The jobs will be a mixture of skilled packaging, support and administration and field sales, with full-time, part-time and seasonal vacancies.
David Rowley, of joint letting agent Savills, said: “The letting was also agreed three months after practical completion in June 2006. The specification of the site, coupled with its close proximity to the M61, meant that it met Handleman’s specific criteria and satisfied the company’s requirement to be operational in early 2007.”
