During its national conference last month, the Flemish logistics association VIB announced some innovations regarding its services.
Alongside the existing training package, a Master level in logistics and the supply chain will be developed. VIB works with ABCAL, the ELA certified body for Belgium and candidates for EJlog, ESlog and EMlog can apply for the certification to both organisations. (VIB is for the Flemish speaking part and ABCAL for the French speaking part of Belgium.)
The organisation’s courses for Professional Purchasers are now split into two parts: VIB1 and VIB2, and content is being completely reviewed and renewed. Close collaboration with NEVI, the Dutch purchasing association should lead to a more uniform approach.
The VIB website has new features including a virtual forum where members can exchange experiences. Judging by the number of visitors so far, this service is much appreciated. And the newsletter also gets a facelift and now looks more dynamic than ever.
The organisation has launched the first chair in Purchasing at the ESHAL Business School in Brussels with Prof. R. Bellens.
The Supply Chain Award for the best project of 2004 organised by VIB and ABCAL was announced at the conference. Finalists will qualify for the ELA Champions League: the European Award for Logistics Excellence.
Also announced was the development of a workgroup in the care sector to establish a network for purchasingand logistics professionals in that sector.
