Home delivery service Parcelnet has agreed a £250m deal with home shopping company Redcats under which Parcelnet, a member of the Otto group which owns Grattans and Freemans, is to merge the two operations to improve courier density.
Redcats has four brands in the UK: Empire Stores, La Redoute, Vertbaudet and Daxon.
Integration plans are already in motion and the outcome will be a 7,000 strong courier home delivery network. The decision was made to enable the network to deal with growth in home shopping demands.
Carole Woodhead, Parcelnet’s managing director said: “We understand the increasing demand for a range of delivery and collection options to support both the growth in remote retail and also the consumer to consumer market which is largely driven by ebay and Amazon marketplace. We know how important it is to have full national coverage and area density and this deal itself is an important component of our service development plan”.
The two companies expect the transition to be complete by September of this year.
