Atchison Topeka invests in distribution centre
Food ingredients supply chain specialist, Atchison Topeka has opened a distribution centre at Droitwich in Worcestershire.
The facility, named Cyrus Point, provides a total of 130,000 sq ft of storage.
The new high-bay warehouse, situated just off the M5 and M42 motorway network, provides a central location and provides a total capacity in excess of 20,000 pallets, 10 dock entry-loading bays, and a combination of both conventional and very narrow aisle racking.
To ensure maximum efficiency, Cyrus Point features the latest VIGO warehouse management system plus full customer integration provided by WeSupply, which provides a two-way real-time link that constantly monitors and updates stock.
Product is tracked using hand held RDT (radio data transfer scanners) to ensure a high pick accuracy.
Mike Phillips, managing director of Atchison Topeka, said: “Our latest investment is in an ideal location with easy access to the motorway network. It demonstrates our commitment to providing customers with the highest levels of service and a reduction in supply chain costs.”
