Asda has chosen Isotrak to supply it with a transport management system aimed at helping reduce its carbon footprint, while improving service quality between distribution centres and stores, and creating better-structured working conditions for its drivers.
Isotrak active transport management system uses a modular system that fuses accurate satellite vehicle tracking with transport management, enabling transport managers to observe and record its vehicle performance in real time, including geographical location and drop-off times.
Part of the installation will include Isotrak’s versatile intelligent alerting system, which uses airline-departure-board style LCD screens, located in goods inbound areas at the back of stores. These will transmit live, updating pending delivery times and trailer contents.
Douglas Gurr, Asda’s strategic director said: “Isotrak has an insightful vision of the way intelligent vehicle tracking and telematics data capture can yield win-win-win benefits in terms of carbon footprint reduction, customer service improvements and improved transport efficiency.”
