Carlsberg Breweries has awarded SSI Schaefer the contract to design, plan and install a new production and distribution centre, with more than 75,000 storage positions in Fredericia, Denmark.
It will be one of the largest investment projects in the history of the Carlsberg Brewery.
Carlsberg was looking for a modern storage system to implement within its new production and distribution plant, once a decision had been reached to move everything from its traditional plant in Copenhagen and combine all processes within a centre close to Fredericia.
SSI Schaefer will take on the design, planning and implementation stages of the storage system installation which will cover an area of about one kilometre squared.
SSI Schaefer will create a high bay warehouse with 18 aisles, with a length of 114 metres and 70,000 storage positions. Static equipment will be designed for the single-deep storage of heavy 1,000 kilo pallets.
The storage process is designed for a throughput of storing 700 pallets and retrieving 800 pallets an hour.
