TDG has committed its 1,200 vehicle fleet to be managed by Linde Material Handling.
The process initially involved Linde purchasing TDG’s entire fleet of equipment and leasing it back. The equipment was not only a mixed fleet of makes and models, but it was also working in a variety of environments from cold stores to other specialised warehouses.
Fleet management has enabled TDG to operate a flexible contract, in some cases reducing fleet sizes through utilisation and in others transferring trucks as demand for the fleet evolves, ensuring optimum availability.
Not only does Linde supply its own equipment within this service, but the company also sources and supplies equipment manufactured by other suppliers.
For example, at Carnforth cleaning equipment has been provided and at ELC Swindon, specialist very narrow aisle trucks have been purchased by Linde on behalf of TDG.
Incorporated into the contract is a maintenance agreement which is based on agreed utilisation of the equipment. However, in the event that a machine is uneconomical to repair, the option is available for the truck to be replaced within agreed parameters.
TDG purchasing manager Fraser Hoare says: “Our business is committed to excellence and working with Linde ensures this commitment. The fleet management package offers us a complete system with the flexibility we need to run our business.
“This, together with the excellent relationship we have with our account managers ensures that our business runs to optimum efficiency giving us complete peace of mind.”
