Simon Plant and Daniel Plant, of SFP have been appointed Joint Administrators of FDB Distribution, based at Kingswinford in the West Midlands.
The private limited company, incorporated in 1988 under the name Maytide Limited, provides storage and warehousing logistics for clients that include OSRAM, EuroTech and Novelis. It had incurred debts of almost £0.5 million.
Simon Plant, of SFP, said: “We are currently investigating the factors that led to the escalating debts. The business is continuing to trade while we are in discussions with potential acquirers.”
In March 2006 some 90 per cent of the stock in FDB Distribution Ltd was sold to Quadmaps Ltd, an acquisition vehicle jointly owned by Embassy Freight Services (UK) Ltd and three private investors.
Steve Winters of Embassy Freight Services also said at the time of the sale: “We see the acquisition of FDB Distribution as a highly significant development to enable us to expand the scope and range of logistics products we can offer in the UK.”
The company was set up by Francis De Beer in 1988 to fulfil a logistical requirement on behalf of Perrier UK. Perrier’s sales expansion justified the use of a rail-connected distribution platform in the Midlands, supplying retail and cash & carry outlets throughout the Midlands and Northern England.
