Wincanton is has claimed market leadership in the two man home delivery market, seven months after taking over Lane Group.
The company says it has made improvements in quality and flexibility of service to retailers and their customers giving it a 98.5 per cent record of successful deliveries – as compared to the industry norm of around 97 per cent.
Wincanton has introduced a choice of delivery times, including evenings and weekends, enabling retailers to give shoppers greater choice about how and when they receive their orders – and cutting customer waiting time to a minimum. This can be critical for the 50 per cent of households that are unoccupied during normal working hours, and for those sending goods that must arrive by a specific time.
It offers a pre-8am delivery window as well as delivery after 6pm. Another option is for the driver to contact the customer to let them know exactly when delivery will be made. It also offers packaging removal and product installation, returns management, recycling and WEEE compliance – through its facility at Billingham in Teesside.
Martin Taylor, managing director, retail, said. “Our people are trained to understand the importance of delivering to customers’ homes and to ensuring a high quality shopping experience right through to product delivery.”
