Legislation on how to implement green measures, is not clear enough and the result is confusion and misunderstanding, according to a sustainability survey by office and refurbishment fit out specialists Overbury.
The survey found that 84 per cent of property professionals confirmed the industry doesn’t have a clear understanding of the Part L regulation, that deals with the energy efficiency of a building and reduction on carbon emissions and its implications.
They came to the conclusion that the whole industry needs to work together for more sustainable buildings. Thirty four per cent of respondents agreed that change should be driven initially by occupier demand with developers and architects sharing the implementation responsibility, followed by contractors at a practical level.
