Asda has chosen Isotrak to supply it with a transport management system aimed at helping reduce its carbon footprint, while improving service quality between distribution centres and stores, and creating better-structured working conditions for its drivers.
Isotrak active transport management system uses a modular system that links satellite vehicle tracking with transport management, enabling transport managers to observe and record vehicle performance in real time, including geographical location and drop-off times.
Douglas Gurr, Asda’s strategic director, said: “Isotrak has an insightful vision of the way intelligent vehicle tracking and telematics data capture can yield win-win-win benefits in terms of carbon footprint reduction, customer service improvements and improved transport efficiency.”
Part of the installation will include Isotrak’s intelligent alerting system, which uses airline-departure-board style LCD screens, located in goods inbound areas at the back of stores.
These will transmit live, updating pending delivery times and trailer contents.
