The Port of London Authority has appointed Roy Stanbrook as harbour master for the Lower Thames District which stretches along the Kent and Essex coasts from Crossness to the sea.
He joined the PLA as a deputy harbour master six years ago and has a wide-ranging maritime background.
He started his sea-going career with the Royal Fleet Auxiliary where he served aboard the ship ‘Sir Galahad’ during the Falklands War. He also saw action in the first Gulf War.
