Jungheinrich has completed a 40 million euro restructuring process at its Norderstedt reach truck production factory. The plant is now thought to be the largest single reach truck factory anywhere in the world.
The company started upgrading the Norderstedt site just outside Hamburg, in 2004. Capacity has been increased by some 30 per cent and, says the company, reach truck build quality has also been improved significantly.
A flow line has replaced the previous cell-based manufacturing techniques. Jungheinrich expects to record its highest ever order intake during 2007.
Bill Goodwin, sales director of Jungheinrich UK, said: “Our restructured reach truck facility enables us to achieve the highest flow rates while the build quality for which Jungheinrich is recognised has been improved still further.”
