EMPATHY Net-Works is a project part-funded by the European Social Fund and Hull University Business School, to help encourage women into the logistics and supply chain industries. The Humber sub-region is one of the areas where women are most under-represented, with only 13 per cent in the logistics sector. The sector and region is at a competitive disadvantage because there’s a lack of higher level skills and women in managerial positions. The project has been created to help the region retain its graduates and targets unemployed graduates, employed women seeking a career change, graduate women returning to the labour market, and aspiring entrepreneurs.
To ensure that the experience is fully grounded in the logistics and supply chain industries the women on the course are supported by women managers employed in the sector through e-mentoring.
