EWS Energy has been awarded a £50m contract by EDF Energy to deliver coal trains to power stations at Cottam and West Burton.
As part of the contract, EWS will operate trains hauling over 1,600 tonnes of coal per train movement. Thousands of trains will be operated over the lifetime of the contract. The coal will be collected from a number of different coal mines and ports in the North East and East Midlands.
The new contract from EDF follows the recent award of a contract to EWS Energy by RWE npower.
