The food and grocery industry is finding it tougher than ever before to attract top quality recruits, according to a delegate poll at the recent IGD Convention.
Two thirds of the 600-strong audience, made up of senior people throughout the industry, say it is tougher than ever before to attract high calibre recruits, with only 12 per cent saying that is relatively easy, and a further 23 per cent saying it is the same as usual.
Employees in the food and grocery say that career progression is the most important factor in applying for new jobs, or deciding to stay with their current job, ranking above factors such as feeling appreciated and money and perks.
