The logistics division of United Biscuits with its Midlands Distribution Centre based in Ashby De La Zouch, Leicestershire, is taking part in a national event that aims to prevent death and injury among children on roads by raising awareness about the importance of slowing down behind the wheel.
As part of Road Safety Week 2007, which takes place this week, schools, communities and companies are joining forces with road safety charity Brake to call on drivers to Let Kids Live by slowing down to 20mph or below around schools and homes.
In conjunction with Brady UK, United Biscuits has produced 1,500 awareness-raising banners displaying the message “Let Kids Live. Slow Down” to be fixed to the rear door of every trailer leaving their distribution depots in Ashby De La Zouch, Leicestershire, throughout Road Safety Week.
On each day of the Week UB will be distributing a different road safety resource – provided by Brake – to 600 employees at their distribution depots to develop a safe driving culture. During the Week UB aims to raise £1,500 from a range of staff fundraising activities such as a raffle and a dress down day to buy road safety educational materials for local Ashby De La Zouch school children.
