Midlands specialist contract packing, storage and logistics firm Oakland International has opened a new depot in Alcester, only a few miles away from its Beoley headquarters at Redditch in Worcestershire.
Managing director Dean Attwell, said: “The Alcester depot will provide Oakland with 39,000 sq ft of dedicated ambient warehousing, servicing both new and existing contracts. The decision to expand within the locality is an acknowledgement of our previous local recruitment success, and as with our Redditch operation, we will be looking to recruit from the Alcester community.”
The new depot provides food grade space for an additional 4,000 pallets, with further expansion planned for the company’s headquarters.
Oakland’s ambient warehouse operation will accommodate both food and consumer goods from many well-known household names, strengthening their already solid reputation in supporting a wide spectrum of chilled, ambient and frozen supply chain solutions.
Consolidation is a growing sector for Oakland which is offering pallet sharing to customers. An archiving service will also be based at Alcester.
“Alcester is the intrinsic choice due to its strategic location, with direct motorway network links to the M40, M5 and the M42,” said Attwell.
“While we will maintain investment in our existing team via ongoing and supplemental training, new staff will be required and what better way to support the local economy then to look for staff from the local area to fulfil Oakland’s expanding operation.”
