Barloworld Handling supplied a fleet of trucks and a battery management system to global safety company Aearo’s manufacturing site in Stockport. The company, which makes safety glasses, hearing protection and communication equipment for use with hard hats and crash helmets, says it expected the fleet to help it reduce its carbon footprint while reducing costs to the site.
Total Battery Management incorporates Macbat batteries which can be regenerated to provide optimum performance throughout their contract life. The TBM comprises an air circulation system that can reduce charging time and emissions produced by charging up to 75 per cent. This means that the batteries only need to be topped up once every three months.
Paul Glazier, distribution manager, Aearo, says: “By using Total Battery Management we have significantly reduced the chances of injury when topping up batteries and extracting them.”
