Hong Kong-based power tools manufacturer Ryobi has taken Oxfordshire’s biggest speculative building the 167,409 sq ft ProLogis Park Didcot on Purchas Road.
The manufacturer has agreed a 10-year lease with a tenant-only break option at the seventh year at a rent of £6.25 per sq ft.
The company will relocate from its existing distribution facility in Droitwich, Worcestershire, to the state-of-the-art facility which will be used for the distribution of the Milwaukee, AEG, Ryobi and Homelite brands.
Mark Pearson, managing director at Ryobi, said: “We chose Didcot for a combination of reasons: it has a good link with Southampton, where a lot of our stock is shipped, and it’s only 45 minutes from Marlow, where our UK head office is based. We also think there is a good pool of talent and a number of other companies have encouraged us to go there. A lot of investment is being made in Didcot now and we’re happy to be part of it.”
Ryobi will refit the whole facility for its own purposes, spending £3 million. It will feature a series of showrooms to demonstrate its products to customers, and there will also be a training centre for power tool specialists.
