Defence minister Harriett Baldwin has officially opened the MoD’s £83 million logistics hub alongside MoD Donnington in Shropshire.
The Defence Fulfilment Centre (DFC) is an 80,000 square metre facility that will store food, clothing, general, and medical supplies for the UK Armed Forces.
It will be operated by Team Leidos, a delivery team consisting of Leidos, Kuehne+Nagel and TVS Supply Chain Solutions.
The DFC programme is expected to generate £500 million in savings over the next 15 years.
“The completion of the Defence Fulfilment Centre is an important milestone in our strategic plan to deliver enhanced information technology and logistics services to the armed forces,” said Leidos chairman and chief executive officer Roger Krone. “This state-of-the-art facility is a conduit to ensuring troops can get what they need, when they need it, by offering a more efficient and effective processes across the supply chain.”
