Stryker, which specialises in orthopaedic and medical technology, chose SSI Schaefer to provide a better storage solution to house all medical parts within its distribution centre at Newbury.
SSI Schaefer recommended installation of Regal 3000 shelving to support an over-sailing floor.
Nicky Kennett of Stryker, says: “We gave the contract to SSI Schaefer because of the modular design of the shelving and the detailed planning that was taken in producing the proposal. Their flexible storage solution came under budget and best suited our needs to condense all stock into one location rather than spread out as before.”
The new shelving houses Stryker’s smaller components below while the over-sailing floor stores the more bulky items above.
The completion of the project has not only given Stryker back valuable, much-needed space but has also resulted in reduced picking times allowing more items to be packed and shipped out the door. Stryker has since recorded some of its highest productivity levels to date.
