The two new truck ranges MAN TGX and MAN TGS were awarded the “Truck of the Year 2008” title at the European Road Transport Show 2007 in Amsterdam.
MAN says development of the two ranges, which cover vehicles from 18 to 50 tonnes, focused on reliability, economy and comfort.
MAN Nutzfahrzeuge has just opened a new engineering centre at its Munich plant as part of its programme of investment. By 2012 MAN Nutzfahrzeuge plans to have invested a total of 190 million euros in new buildings and machinery, in structural improvements in truck production and logistics and in expansion of the R&D capacity.
Beside optimisation of the conventional diesel engine it is developing and testing alternative drive concepts including solutions with natural gas, hydrogen, fuel cells, diesel-electric drive and hybrid technologies. Alongside this, systems for cleaning the exhaust gases of trucks and buses are being devised.
