Inchmuir, owner of MRS Distribution, has taken over Scottish haulier JBT (Jim Brackenridge Transport).
The combined turnover of the group is more than £45m, with 450 employees, based throughout 15 depots in the UK – from Shetland in the north to Sheerness in the south.
MRS & JBT will continue to trade as two different businesses, as part of the same group – both will retain current branding and identity.
JBT was founded in 1932 in Aberdeen as James Paterson Transport. It was purchased in the 1950s by Transport Development Group (TDG) and Jim Brackenridge became managing director in 1974. Murray Prentice was appointed managing director in September 1998. The firm operates a fleet of 50 vehicles and 70 trailers, and currently employs 120 staff across depots based in Aberdeen, Inverness, Cumbernauld, Lerwick and Kirkwall.
