Tal Logistics Group of Sheffield has taken over Phillips (Seahouses) Ltd, the Northumberland-based haulage contractor.
Tal, which currently has an annual sales of £11.5million, has plans to double in size through further acquisitions over the next 18 months.
Chairman Neil Taylor, who founded Tal Logistics with a single truck in 1999, said: “Phillips of Seahouses has been a successful rural business for the last 60 years. We will operate it as a stand-alone business under the Tal Logistics umbrella.
“We will continue to drive the business rapidly forward, and to that end we are interested in discussions with businesses that have turnovers of between £1million and £20million plus.”
