De Post – La Poste, the Belgian postal service, has implemented a new warehouse management system from RedPrairie. The system has automated and optimised De Post’s central warehouse and increased the productivity of warehouse staff by 50 per cent since its implementation in June 2007. There is complete visibility into inventory levels, paperwork has been virtually eliminated, and orders received before noon are dispatched the same day.
The central warehouse of De Post – La Poste stores all supplies for post offices across Belgium. It receives an average of 2,000 orders a day. Stocks include 900 different items of apparel, more than 1,000 types of products sold at postal windows (stamps, parcel packages, etc.), and over 2,000 consumables for internal use in post offices. Items are stored in three different buildings.
* The Carphone Warehouse is implementing RedPrairie’s Task Management application to gain a single, chain-wide window into all aspects of store operations, including marketing, merchandising and promotions. The mobile phone and services retailer operates 2,400 stores under The Carphone Warehouse banner in the UK, The Phone House in European markets and in the US market with partner Best Buy.
The system is designed to improve visibility into store level compliance, streamline communication and gain strong financial benefit by reducing unnecessary headquarter to store communications, and increasing vendor marketing sponsorship through better in store compliance.
“The Carphone Warehouse is focused on delivering an excellent customer experience across our brands,” said Anthony Catterson, managing director UK retail. “During a rigorous trial, RedPrairie’s solution improved our efficiencies by helping us be more streamlined and consistent with our communication between headquarters and the stores. With better prioritisation of store projects, our stores can better deliver on our value proposition to the customer and to our bottom line.”
*Buksesnedkeren has selected RedPrairie´s Warehouse Management System and Workforce Management solutions to achieve best-in-class levels of productivity at its Danish distribution centre.
Buksesnedkeren designs and markets sports and leisurewear and is the company behind brands like Signal and H2o. From its distribution centre north of Copenhagen the company supports multiple sales channels including its own stores, internet shop, and major retailers and distributors on all continents.
“As we continue to see volume growing at 12-15 per cent each year, we are now supplying an increasing amount of retail customers across an increasing amount of countries, all with different requirements. This is making our supply chain more international and making the order fulfilment process much more complex because we need to plan further ahead to deliver on time and as expected. These issues made it clear to us that time was right to examine our supply chain and identify investment areas to improve efficiency,” said Henrik Larsen, supply chain manager at Buksesnedkeren.
“We started looking at a number of replacement systems on the market and contacted several national and international vendors – one being RedPrairie who came highly recommended via industry contacts. Early on in the evaluation process it became clear that RedPrairie was the obvious choice, due to the superior logic their WMS has around managing seasonal goods and prioritizing weekly deliveries, the powerful combination with Workforce Management, and the skill and experience of the RedPrairie team in our vertical,” said Larsen.
