The finalists for the MAN Truck & Bus UK Everywoman in Transport and Logistics Awards have been shortlisted, with the winners to be announced at a ceremony on 12 June 2008.
Awards will be presented in the following categories: Newcomer of the Year, Pall-Ex Commercial Driver of the Year, Isuzu Customer Service Award, Skills for Logistics Industry Trainer of the Year, DHL Logistics Warehousing Award, and the Company of the Year.
Of the finalists shortlisted across all categories one will also be selected to win the Woman of the Year prize.
The awards, which are held in association with Skills for Logistics, aim to highlight the contribution women have made to the industry and encourage more to pursue a career in the field.
Maxine Benson, co-founder and director of Everywoman, said: “The proportion of women in the workforce has increased significantly over the last few decades, and inevitably the range of careers they are pursuing is diversifying.”
Lucinda Ward, marketing and research director at Skills for Logistics and a member of the judging panel, added: “These awards have provided a much needed boost to the image of the logistics industry.”
Other judges include Hilary Devey, managing director of Pall-Ex Group, Nikki King OBE, managing director of Isuzu Truck UK and Rebecca Jenkins, sales director UK & Ireland at Wincanton.
