Berkmann Wine Cellars has signed a multi-million pound contract with logistics provider London City Bond to store and deliver more than 100,000 cases of wine each year.
Products will be stored at LCB’s Tilbury Docks bonded warehouse, which is linked to the container terminal at the docks via private roads, so the company does not have to conform to UK road weight limits, helping to save on quay-to-warehouse transport.
LCB’s IT systems were also integral to Berkmann’s decision. Dinesh Changela, managing director of Berkmann, said: “It is invaluable for us to be able to access the real time information so that we can track and trace all our products as well as know when something has been delivered and the time of delivery.”
