JF Hillebrand unveiled its Transport Carbon Calculator at the London International Wine Fair to enable wine and spirits distributers to measure their carbon footprint.
The device has been developed in conjunction with the Wine and Spirit Trade Associations logistics committee and is available on the JF Hillebrand website.
It works out carbon dioxide emission results by evaluating the mode of transport, distance travelled and size of load.
David Mawer, managing director of JF Hillebrand, said: “Now that we can actually judge what impact our industry is having on the environment, it will be much easier to implement collaborative measures that will place much needed emphasis on improving our emissions standards and decreasing our impact on the environment.”
