Siemens IT Solutions and Services has developed a voice recognition system for PC users in a bid to improve productivity in the work place and lower costs for help desks.
The system uses biometric speaker recognition and once set up allows users to check and change passwords for Windows over the phone using a 24-hour automated service.
The solution was developed in partnership with Excelsis and works by comparing a caller’s voice with the voice characteristics stored in their profile. If they match the user will be given a new password over the phone.
The new system aims to supply a new password in three minutes, compared to an average of 30 minutes if done by an administrator.
