Pharmaceuticals pre-wholesaler UDG has been using the Microlise system for some time. Tim Gittins of UDG points out that clients are keen to track products, which in this market can be very expensive. “The in-cab solution enabled us to monitor every vehicle. Now we have full real-time visibility.”
Many products are kept in temperature controlled conditions and the system can provide a warning if the temperature of a product goes outside the permitted range. The security aspect is also important with such valuable products, Gittins points out.
While customer service has been the key driver for using the Microlise system, UDG has also started to look at fuel savings. “We are working on it now,” says Gittins, “and we anticipate good opportunities through driver training.”
