Vehicle manufacturer Scania Great Britain has been presented with a Training Quality Standard award for its apprentice programme by the Learning and Skills Council.
The judging panel took into account course planning, response to customer needs, quality of training, performance when compared to national averages, improvement within the scheme and the range of training facilities available.
The LSC also looked at how the programme integrates into Scania’s overall plan of training options and career path development.
The course aims to teach practical skills and hands-on experience, as well as providing a series of training modules held at the Scania Training Centre in Loughborough.
Apprentices graduate with an Advanced Apprenticeship in Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, which includes an NVQ Level 3 and technical certificate and diploma. They will also receive four Scania-recognised product training courses, three of which go towards the Scania Master Technician Programme.
On completion of the four-year programme all apprentices are employed full time at a Scania dealership.
