ZIM Integrated Shipping Services is set to move its intermodal containers by rail rather than road in the UK after signing a contract with DB Schenker’s EWS Network.
The company handles more than two million containers per year, calling at 180 ports worldwide.
EWS Network will transport containers from Felixstowe to Wakefield and Tilbury to Wakefield. It initially plans to move more than 100 containers per week by rail, which is set to increase over the next couple of months.
