Computer retailer PC World, working with NYK Logistics, has taken delivery of the company’s first carbon emission-reducing ‘teardrop’ trailer, which it has called the RoadMouse.
The lightweight aerodynamic trailer, designed by Don-Bur, claims to use ten per cent less fuel than standard vehicles and will run on biodiesel, helping to lower carbon emissions by an estimated 20 per cent.
NYK will be responsible for monitoring the performance of the trailer during a one-month trial period.
Graham Wilkie, supply chain director at PC World, said: “The RoadMouse is one of a range of initiatives designed to improve the efficiency of our supply chain, enabling us to better serve our stores and our customers and minimising the impact of our activities on the environment.”
