Gist has moved part of its Scottish distribution operation to a new site in Wardpark, Cumbernauld and invested £5 million in expanding its Lenziemill operation, ahead of future growth.
The 12 acre Wardpark food distribution facility will be used exclusively by Gist’s 24-hour operation and has been relocated from the shared Westfield depot along with all 70 staff.
The site offers additional space and facilities, including a 30,000 sq ft fridge and 110,000 sq ft of warehouse space.
To further support its growth the company has invested in its Lenziemill, Cumbernauld site, refurbishing the existing refrigerator and building a 20,000 sq ft extension to the refrigeration space.
Once complete it will comprise 100,000 sq ft, making it Gist’s largest refrigeration unit.
Ahead of upcoming changes in environmental regulations, the new refrigeration energy centre will convert the system so that it runs from ammonia, rather than other more damaging refrigerant gases.
